From Daniel Dieter: In the work of Mimi Bird for the area north of Milwaukee Wisconsin (available for viewing at the Whitefish Bay Public Library as an online resource), she details many of the families that lived in the area. One of them was Heil. She mentions in her work that a Maria Anna Heil married Sebastian Stork in the fall of 1848, and that she was born 4/21/1817 in Babenhausen. (MB) She states that this information comes from records of the St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church of East Granville, or River Hills. This church disbanded and the congregation was merged with the Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Milwaukee in 1973. As of this writing, I have not been able to find these records. I have had conversations with the administration of the St. Peter’s – Immanuel, and they say their records only go back as far as 1864. I will keep looking. This is not the first connection between the Heil, Stork and Dieter families. There is also a record at the Milwaukee Public Library that indicates Sebastian Stork married a Julianne Hoil in 1849, and as Mimi Bird mentions in her research, there is a possibility that he either married two sisters or this is the same marriage recorded at different times. Still need to find the church records. (MB)(MPL) This story gets more confusing when you add another element. It would appear that Mariana may have had a daughter in 1843. I have a marker for Katharina Heil, christened on December 3, 1834, which states that her mother was Christiane Heil and her maternal grandfather’s name was Daniel Heil. (FS) The records from Mimi Bird indicate that the Catherine Heil living with the Stark family in 1850 (AC) later married Henry Stark on December 2, 1853. (MB)(MPL) Henry Stark was the son of Sebastian Stark and his first wife Sophia Barnewald (sp) (FS)(MPL). It would appear that Henry’s father Sebastian and Catherine’s mother, Mariana were married June 10, 1849 (the third marriage for Sebastian and the first for Mariana) The dates add up, but the name variation would mean that either Mariana also went by Christiane, Julia and Julianna, or there are some unknown girls that I do not have information on. If nothing else, it shows the close ties between these two families. Sebastian and Mariana Stark are buried in St. Peter’s Cemetery in River Hills Wisconsin.
