Seton Henderson grew up on his parents' property, "Ohinemama" on Chatham Island. In later years he took over the property. He ran sheep and later in 1925 he opened the Huro Cheese Factory to take Cream from the Island's dairy farmers. The factory was in business until 1938 when shortage of milk and labour forced its closure. In later years, Seton and Gertrude moved to Atuahua south of Christchurch where they farmed "Matareka" for many years.
