Biography

John Herris was a son of Thomas Herris, Salter and Haberdasher of London, and his second wife Dorothy Bassano.[1]

He was aged about 2 in 1664.[1] As his parents were married by Licence dated 28 Feb 1662/1663[2] it is presumed John Herris was born c 1663.

In the will of John Bassano of Walthamstow, Essex, Gent, the will dated 07 Feb 1671/1672 and proved 26 Mar 1672, the Testator bequeathed to his wife Bridgett for her natural life a property in Little Queen Street within the parish of "St Giles or St Martins in the Fields" [Middlesex]. After her death it was to pass to the heirs of his body, but for want of such issue then to" John Herris the elder sonne of my sister Dorothy Herris".[3]
