Joseph A. Hetrick was born in 6 August 1838 in Pennsylvania. He was the son of John Hetrick and Catherine Reedy.
Joseph enlisted in 1863 in Co. M, 14th Pa. Cavalry, served till the end of the war and participated with his regiment in Sheridan’s campaigns in the Shenandoah Valley. [1]
Joseph married Martha E Lamberson.
In June 1880, Joseph, Martha, and their four children were residing in Madison Township of Armstrong County, Pennsylvania.[2]
On 30 Apr. 1888 Joseph applied for his pension. He successfully obtained a pension. His widow applied for her late husband's pension on 19 July 1910, a few short weeks after his death. She was also successful in obtaining the pension. [3]
In 1890, Joseph was enumerated in the 1890 Special Schedule of Surviving Union Veterans and Widows. He was living in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. His rank and company information was not noted. [4]
In 1900, Joseph and Martha were residing in South Bethlehem, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania.[5]
In 1910, Joseph and Martha were residing in Mahoning, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania.[6]
Joseph passed away on 30 June 1910 in Mahoning township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. He is buried at Oakland Cemetery in Distant, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania.[7]
