ANNA HEWETT, born at Canterbury, Connecticut, 1 Jul 1754[1] daughter of Henry Hewitt and Joanna Denison;[2][3][4] Anna died likely at Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania 29 Dec 1796;[5] married at Windham, 6 Jul 1775,[6] PHILIP ABBOTT, born at Windham, 23 Mar 1751[7] son of Abiel Abbott and Abigail Fenton; Philip died at Kingston, Pennsylvania, 8 Mar 1834.[8] Philip married 2nd, 17 Mar 1815 at Wilkes-Barre, MABEL MERRITT.
Anna Hewett and Philip Abbott married in Connecticut and perhaps their older children were born there. But Philip had gone to the Wyoming Valley perhaps as early as 1772, drawing lots in the Wilkes-Barre District in April 1772.[9]
Philip Abbott and Anna Hewett were parents of eight children, the births of oldest four children recorded in Windham.[10][11]

v JAMES HEWETT ABBOTT, b. 1786; d. at Kingston, PA, 13 Apr 1809; m. 1806, ANNA STEPHENS, b. at Lackawaxen, PA, about 1789 daughter of Uriah and Elizabeth (Jones) Stephens; Anna d. at Hornell, NY, 30 Jul 1830. After James’s death, Anna married Bazy Baker.
