Joseph Hey was born in Oxenhope, Yorkshire, England.
Joseph was born in Oxenhope, Yorkshire, England, on October 18, 1884. [1] His birth was registered in Keighley. He was the son of Richard Ayrton Hey and Sarah (Unknown). He was enumerated in the 1891 census [2] as a six year old residing with his parents and six siblings at Sawood End, Far Oxenhope, Haworth. The family was at the same residence in 1901.[3] He was sixteen and a "Steel Spring Maker". He was one of five children living with his parents at Sawood House Oxenhope, Keighley, in 1911.[4] He was twenty six, single, and a "Mill Mechanic" for a Spindle and Fly Maker.
Joseph married Susannah Magson in 1918.[5] The marriage was registered in the second quarter in Keighley. It is unknown if the couple had children. Joseph and Susannah appreared in the 1939 Register[6] residing at 4 Pear Street, Keighley. His occupation "Chargehand Block Type Spring Maker". (Note...nine year old Edna Mackay and one redacted entry also listed at address).
Joseph passed away in Morecambe, Lancashire, 1957. [7] His death was registered in the fourth quarter in Lancaster. He was seventy three.
