Biography

Abel Heywood was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, on December 27, 1758, the son of Abel Heywood and Hannah Goddard.^[1][2][3]

He married Abigail Chamberlain, daughter of Deacon Jacob and Lydia (Stone) Chamberlain, in Worcester on April 27, 1780.^[1][4]

Abel Heywood died in Worcester on May 10 1821, "aged 62" (gravestone). His gravestone reads: "In Memory of | Mr. Abel Heywood. | who died | May 10, 1821,| aged 62." He was originally buried at the Mechanic Street Burial Ground in downtown Worcester, Massachusetts,^[5] but his grave was relocated to Hope Cemetery in the late 19th century.
