Biography

Robert was born in 1769. He was the son of John Hibbert and Jannett Gordon. Robert was baptised 11 Dec 1769 in Jamaica.^[1]

Robert Hibbert, the son of John Hibbert, arrived in this Island in the first voyage of the Jupiter, Captain Fullerton, My 17th, 1791, in the 22nd year of his age: on the 12th Sep. 1792 he married Elizabeth Jane Nembhard, sister to his cousin Robert's wife. Loetitia; on 22nd June 1793 Robert, Senior, and his family sailed in the Phoenix, Capt. Stimpson, for England.

Robert died in Welbeck St., London, 22nd Sep. 1849, aged 79.^[2]and was interred in the Kensal Green Cemetery, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Greater London, England^[3]

Last Will and Testament

Will of Robert Hibbert of Welbeck Street, Middlesex (Founder of the Hibbert Trust), dated 29 Dec. Funeral not to exceed £50. All his real and personal property unconditionally to his "affectionate wife Elizabeth Jane." Executrix his wife, executor his friend Harley Smith, of Warnford Court, Throgmorton Street, Esq." Witnesses: Joseph George Neeld and Cornelius Middleton Amsden, clerks to Messrs. Smith and Alliston. Will proved London, 15th Oct, 1849, by Elizabeth Jane Hibbert, widow, the relict, and Harley Smith, executrix and executor. (P.C.C., 3, 16, 49.)
