OBITUARY: Alex Hindi of Duran Dies in City Hospital: Alex Hindi, well known Duran rancher and breeder of prize Arabian horses, died Thursday in an Albuquerque hospital.
Hindi came to New Mexico from Lebanon in 1908 and established a ranch in Duran. He and his sons owned land in Lincoln, Torrance and Guadalupe counties. His Arabian horses were consistent winners in State Fair and international ranch horse competition.
Survivors include five sons, Brahaim, Sam and Nabay Hindi, all of Duran, and Ed and Shafie Hindi, both of Albuquerque; two daughters, Mrs. Tony V. Gallegos and Mrs. Harry Doro, both of Albuquerque; two brothers, Subhi and Altaf Hindi, both of Rayak Lebanon; 25 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at French Mortuary, 1111 University NE, from noon today until Saturday at 9 a.m. The body will then be taken to the family residence, where graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., with burial in the Hindi Cemetery, Duran.
OBITUARY: Alex A. Hindi will be taken at 9 a.m. this morning to the family residence in Duran by noon today. Graveside services and interment will be held this afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Hindi Cemetery, Duran, New Mexico, with Mr. Naji Shukri officiating. Escorts will be David Doro, Robert Hindi, Jimmy Gallegos, Brahaim Hindi, Jr., Nabay Hindi, Jr. and Joseph Hindi. The French Mortuary, 1111 University NE, in charge of arrangements.
