On 12 May 1842, Christopher married Margaret Foyle (Fogle or Vogle) in Knox County, Ohio.[1]

In May 1850, Christopher completed the purchase of land in Fayette County, Illinois. The record was filed in the land office in Vandalia, Fayette, Illinois. This sale of public land followed regulations in the Act of Congress of 24th of April 1820.[3]
By the time the census taker came in August 1850, Christopher (age 28) and Margaret (age 26) were living in Fayette County, Illinois. Two children, William A. (age 2) and Sarah C. (age 8) were living with them.[4]

Research Notes
More research is needed to identify Christopher's parents, and to verify clues on FG about his birthdate. Many (but not all) available census records give his birthplace as Pennsylvania. Some have Ohio. A private tree on Ancestry says he was born in Somerset, Pennsylvania. This clue appears to come from someone in the Dial family line (descendants of Christopher's daughter Sarah). It is unknown whether the location "Hissong, Illinois" associated with Christopher as a postmaster was a small village or place. However, in March 1898, a new postmaster, Miles S. Beck, was appointed for Hissong, Illinois, in Fayette County, presumable due to death or illness of Christopher Hissong. More research is needed.[12][13]Kimbel-162 00:10, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
