John Jacob Hively was the eldest son of Christopher Hively and Sophia Catharina Schupp Hively, born 1755 in York County, PA.

He married Veronica Ephronica "Fanny" Heydt, c. 1773, Botetourte, VA.

Residence

If this Johann Jacob Hively had left the area to marry in Virginia by 1773, then the settlement confusion with other Johann Jacob's in this region of Pennsylvania should be resolved as most probably not being this Jacob.

Postings on other genealogical sites propose that this Johann Jacob Hively resided in Shrewsbury Township, York County, PA are definitely in error. That Johann Jacob Hively was this person's uncle; brother to Christopher Hively, the immigrant. also Johann Jacob Hively. Johann Jacob Hively is a very common name in the first few generations. Care should be exercised to distinguish the generations.

Several of his younger children are noted has having been born in York County, PA, at least until about 1780.

This Johann Jacob's father, Christopher lived in Hellam Township, York County, PA, near what is now Starview. [1]
