Biography

Birth Jacob was born on 5 Sep 1793 in Gönningen. He was the son of Johann Jacob Hoch and Anna Eißler from Oeschingen.[1]#S463, page 19

Religious Confirmation 1807 in Gönningen, Württemberg, Germany

Marriage 25 Jun 1816 with Anna Maria Hoch.[1]

Occupation He was a hops dealer, beer host and beer brewer.[1]

1. Jacob Hoch apparently immigrated with or after his sons. He is found in the 1850 census in the household of his son Gottlieb Hoch.
2. Gönningen Church Records state: "ist in America" (is in America).
3. There is no record of Jacob Hoch emigrating to the U.S., however,according to the emigration records in Stuttgart, Martin Hoch leftGermany in 1850 - the same year as his brother Gottlob. Since recordsand articles from Butler Co., PA show Martin establishing thebrewery, "together with Martin Reiber", in 1849, it is believed that heleft Germany without permission. It is very probable that the"Martin Hoch" listed in the Stuttgart Archives was really Martin andGottlob's father Jacob emigrating under false name.

NANCY EVELYN HOCH married to Francis Wood Staffan, May 6, 1922, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Then married to Paul Wells Neuenschwander on June 24, 1948 in Parkersburg, West Virginia. CHILDREN OF NANCY EVELYN AND FRANK WOOD STAFFAN: Nancy Mae Staffan, born August 15, 1931 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, married to Robert Smith Whitmire on August 22, 1954 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, son of Carl Douglas and Myrtle Smith Whitmire.
