When Elizabeth Hodges was born on September 22, 1784, in Greenville, South Carolina, her father, John, was 28. The Hodges family Bible names Ann Standard as the mother of all of John's children, but John had an earlier wife Sarah who is named in a land record in 1784, making her most likely the mother of Elizabeth.
She married Noel Norwood on May 13, 1806, in Darlington, South Carolina.[1] They had 13 children:
Noel died on January 13, 1863 and Elizabeth died on September 16, 1866, in East Feliciana, Louisiana, having lived a long life of 81 years, and was buried in Clinton, Louisiana.[2]
