Biography

John Holbrook was born in Madison County, New York, in 1811. He moved to Indiana as an agent for Joseph French. After marrying Angeline French (the daughter of Joseph) in 1839, he was a farmer in Hartford, Indiana. The family added 8 children born in Indiana. John, Angeline, and family moved to Richmond, Walworth, Wisconsin in 1857. Three more children were born there. John Holbrook served on the Board of Supervisors for Richmond. He was a prosperous farmer in Wisconsin, growing his acreage to 140 acres. John Holbrook died in Richmond (probable-- need documentation), Wisconsin, in 1875. He is buried in Richmond Cemetery, Richmond, Walworth County, Wisconsin.
