On February 18, 1948, Lenton died of coronary thrombosis.[3][15] He is buried at Riverside Cemetery in Wichita Falls, Texas.[16]
Research Notes
Lenton's death certificate[3] lists his birthplace as Mississippi, not Smith County, Texas as mentioned above. However, given all of the federal censuses from 1900-1940 list Texas as his birthplace and his WWII draft registration card[2] reference his birthplace as Smith County, Texas, this is the likely place he was born. Lenton's mother was born in Mississippi,[7][8] which may explain the discrepancy on the death certificate.
