Biography

Ann (Holman) Hawkey was born in Liskeard, Cornwall, England.

Ann Holman was baptised on 9 March 1845 in Lanivet, Cornwall, England. She was the child of James & Mary.^[1] Her birth had been registered in Bodmin in the March quarter of that year. Her mother's maiden name, Treleaven.^[2]

Ann Holman of Liskeard, age 42, a Spinster, daughter of James Holman (deceased), married Robert Hawkey of Lanlivery , a Bachelor Farmer, age 43, in the Liskeard district, Cornwall, in 1887. ^[3]

Despite her age, Ann and Robert had two children in the 1891 census, Maud 3 and Robert 1 month.^[4][5][6]

In the 1921 census Ann (age 74), Home Duties, was the widowed head of household on Castle Street, Liskeard, Liskeard Borough, Cornwall, England. Visitor Petherick Hawkey (75), her deceased husband's brother was present on the census.^[7]

Ann died in the summer of 1923. The Probate Calendar states the following:

Hawkey Ann of Castle-villa Liskeard, Cornwall widow died 4 August 1923 Probate Bodmin 31 August to Robert Holman Hawkey granite works manager and Maud Mary Jane Edwards (wife of the reverend Norman Edwards clerk) Effects £2461 4s. 5d.
