Henry Rite Holmes was the fifth child born to Hiram R. Holmes and Winnie Calline (Swofford) Holmes. He married Vina "Vinnie" Laura (Smith) Holmes on 9 June 1911 in Cullman County, AL. Henry and Vinnie had the following children: A set of twins, Lessie and Jessie, that died at a young age. A son, Raymond Wesley Holmes, who also died in infancy. (See link below). A daughter, Mary Catherine (Holmes) Breeding that married a Luther Lafeyette Breeding and resided in the Somerville area. A son, "Homer" James Holmes, that married Earline (Carpenter) Holmes and resided in the Hartselle area. A daughter, Harriet Ann (Holmes) Moore, that married James Walter Moore and resided in the Hartselle area. A daughter, Annie Jo (Holmes) Rodgers-Moehler, who first married a William Seals Rodgers, and then married a Frank Moehler and moved out of state. A son, Albert Junior Holmes, that married an Inez (Byrd) Holmes and resided in Morgan County. A daughter, Jamie "Marie" (Holmes) Clark, who married a Clark and resided in Morgan County. A daughter, Betty Jean (Holmes) Clemons, who married a Enoch Carswell Clemons and resided in Morgan County. In Henry's early years he worked as a farmer. Later on, he worked at the Weigh Station on Main Street in Hartsell until he was well into his eighties.
