Biography
Gabriel Holstensson was born 21 March 1598 as the son of bergsman Holsten Andersson and his wife.[1]
Like his elder brother Eric he studied in Västerås and adopted the latinized surname Holstenius. He studied abroad in Germany, Holland, France and Italy. He returned to Sweden and taught school in Västerås. Gabriel Holstenius was ordained in 1632. He was elected as vicar in Munktorp parish in 1636 and then as vicar in Västerås Cathedral (domprost) in 1638.
Gabriel was married to Margareta Rudbeckia in 1630 and had a single daughter, Brita Holstenia. The marriage was unhappy (his wife took lovers).
Gabriel Holstenius died in 1649.
