Biography
Edward C. Hotz Jr. was born Dewey D. Hicks Jr. but was later adopted by Edward C. Hotz Sr., along with Bonnie June Hotz, after Julia P. Smith divorced Dewey Dewitt Hicks.
Uncle Ed was a highly decorated Korean War vet for the US Navy, where he made it to the rank of Captain in record time. He then left the USN, to join the US Air Force.
He died in 1953 at the age of 27, when his canopy failed and his plane crashed after takeoff from Perrin AFB, Texas.
