Thomas was born about 1823, possibly in Ballystrudder, Islandmagee, County Antrim, Ireland, the son of Robert Houston, a farmer.
In 1871 he married Mary McAlister in 1st Islandmagee Presbyterian Church. He was a farmer from Ballystrudder, Islandmagee and she was from Cloghfin. The witnesses were Thomas Milliken and Margaret McAlister.[1]
Thomas died in 1892, aged 69 years, in Cloghfin, Islandmagee from kidney disease. He was a widower and a farmer. His death was registered by his son Robert Houston of Cloghfin who was present at his death.[2] He was buried in the family plot in Ballykeel Graveyard, Islandmagee.[3]
