The 1891 England and Wales Census shows Edgar living with his parents and three siblings in the household of his maternal grandmother in Bugle Street, Southampton, Hampshire, England.^[3] He was 10 years old.

The 1901 England and Wales Census shows Edgar living with his parents and three siblings in French Street, Southampton, Hampshire, England.^[4] He was 20 years old and was working as a Scale Maker.

At some point before the next census Edgar was married.

The 1911 England and Wales Census shows the couple and son John living in Brighton, Sussex, England.^[5] Edgar was 30 years old and was working as a Scale Maker's Manager.
