Biography

Isaac Wakeman Huff was born 14 Nov 1859 in Mendon, St. Joseph County, Michigan, son of Hugh M. Huff (1830 – 1904) and Sarah Jane (1838 – 1902). On 5 April 1882 in Parkville, St. Joseph County, Michigan, Isaac married Sarah Jane "Jennie" Koch (1861–1936). The marriage was performed by L.W. Calkins, Pastor of the Park Methodist Episcopal Church. The witnesses were Peter Koch and Sarah A. Koch, both of Parkville. Isaac's occupation was specified as a manufacturer.

Isaac and Sarah had five children:

  1. Lena Huff (1883 – 1883)
  2. Glenn Clare Huff (1884 – 1964)
  3. Roy Delos Huff (1888 – 1973)
  4. Harry Flint Huff (1890 – 1936)
  5. Eva May Huff (1894 – 1963). Married married Harlie Matthew Mink.

Isaac died 28 Apr 1942 at age 82 in Kenosha, Kenosha County, Wisconsin.

Retired Official of Textile Company, Ill Two Weeks, Dies at Hospital
Isaac W. Huff, 82 years, a resident of Kenosha since 1885, and a former employee of Allen-A company, residing at 5021-21st avenue, died at the Kenosha hospital Tuesday afternoon, following an illness of two weeks.
He was born in Parkville, Michigan, November 14, 1859, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Huff. He spent his early life there where he was educated.
In Textile Industry
As a young man he took up the trade in the textile industry at Parkville, later moving to Flint, Michigan, and then to St. Joe, Michigan.
In 1895 he came to Kenosha at the time Charles and Willis Cooper purchased the interests of the Chicago-Rickford Hosiery company, later called the Black Cat Hosiery Company, and then the Allen-A company.
Huff was wool superintendent, later retiring from active duty seventeen years ago.
Active Church Leader
On April 5, 1882 he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Jane Koch. He was a member of the First Methodist church. He was a Sunday school teacher for many years, Sunday school superintendent for 20 years, and Official Board member for more than 40 years.
He is survived by Glenn C. Huff of Milwaukee, Roy D. Huff, Mrs. Harlie M. Mink, both of Kenosha, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and by one brother, Clarence Huff, of Sheboygan, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his wife on June 12, 1936, one son, Harry Huff, on October 20, 1936, and one daughter who died in infancy in 1883.
