Biography

In 1871 Jabez, age 7, was living with his family at 16 Willow St., Gladstone Building in Shoreditch, St. Leonard, London. His parents were Samuel, 32, a carpenter and joiner and Margaret, 39, a public day school teacher and his brother Samuel was 3. Also living in the home were George Reley, 16, an apprentice carpenter and Selma Gould, 15, a domestic servant^[1].

In 1881 Jabez, 17, born in Forest Hills, Kent, was living with his father Samuel, 42, born in Wells Trowbridge and brother Samuel, 13, born in Calford, Kent at 3 Welland Terrace back in Lewisham. He was an apprentice joiner^[2]. On the date of the census Margaret was visiting her father Thomas Ewart, 78, a cabinet maker, widowed, and her brothers William, 53, unmarried a Sergeant at Mace and Thomas, 46, unmarried, a postman in Berwick Upon Tweed, Northumberland^[3].

Jabez' mother was Margaret Ewart Hulbert, d. 24 April 1901, age 69^[4].

Hannah Jackson married Jabez William Hulbert in 1908 in New Zealand^[5].

He died 1 Dec 1935 in Birkenhead^[6] and is buried beside his mother, Margaret E Hulbert, d. 24 April 1901, age 69 in Pompallier Cemetery, Auckland^[7].
