Martha was born about 1835. She is the daughter of Hugh Hunter.
She married Thomas Hay of Cratlagh, Mallymore at the Millford Meeting House on 15 December 1857. Witnesses were James Brown and William Graham. [1]
Thomas Hay was over 30 years her senior.
Seven children were born in their marriage, John, Martha, Margaret, Rebecca, Nancy (Annie), Thomas and James.
She was widowed in 1888 when Thomas passed away aged 88. Annie Hay was the informant of her father's death. [2]
Two children remained in the family home at the time of the 1901 and 1911 Census, Thomas and her daughter Annie. Living with them in 1911 was her granddaughter Elizabeth Matson.
Martha Hay, Widow, died in 1917 aged 83. Martha Matson was the informant of her mother's death. [3]
