Michael died on 2 June 1961 of 113 Bridge Lane, London NW11 London, England, died at New End Hospital, Hampstead, London and his estate passed probate on 12 March 1962 in London to Emanuel Hurwitz.[12]In his will Michael appoints Emmanuel Hurwitz, his nephew, as executor. He leaves bequests to his sister Mary Hurwitz, his nephew's son Michael Hurwitz, his niece Lily Aaronson and her son David Aaronson and mentions his wife Doreen Houghton.[13][14]
Michael Houghton wrote under the pseudonym of Michael Juste. His book Escape, and other verse was published by the Swan Press Leeds, in 1924. He was the founder of 'Atlantis Book Shop' at 49 Museum Street, London, which specialised in occult literature.[15]
