Biography

John Frederick Imirie was born on August 18, 1898^[1] in Washington, D.C.^[2] He was the son of John Imirie and Mary Ferney Boswell.^[3][4][5]

John was working as an automobile mechanic in Bethesda, Maryland, at the time of the WWI draft.^[1] He listed his mother as his nearest relative; she was living in Chevy Chase, Maryland.^[1]

Shortly after WWI, John married Ella Harkins Preston in Marion County, West Virginia.^[6] They had two children, Patricia Ellen Imirie and John Frederick Imirie.^[2] In 1950, John and Ellen were living in Richmond, Virginia along with their son John and his wife Sallie Comley Imirie.^[7]

John died on May 13, 1967 and is buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland (Prince George's County), Maryland.^[5]

1900 Census: Washington, District of Columbia^[3] This record is poorly indexed. Mary is in her own household with the children listed, but John is not. None of the children are linked to Mary. There is no edit correction allowed for her name but it is indeed Imirie on the image. Residence is 401 6th Street.
