Christopher was born about 1450. The major source work on the family is silent on his parentage but records that "Christopher Irvine, Laird of Bonshaw, who was head of the family in the beginning of the sixteenth century".[2]
Christopher Irving is known to have led the Scottish Light Horse at the Battle of Flodden in 1513 where he was killed.[3]
