James Richie Irwin was born about 1830.
James married Margaret Hunter Cappon on 24 January 1856 in Monifieth, Angus, Scotland.[1]
James and Margaret Hunter Ritchie Cappon's daughter Margaret Hardinge Irwin was born on 13 January 1858 in Monifieth, Angus, Scotland.[2]
In the 1861 census James (age 32), Master Mariner, was the son-in-law of Margaret Cappon on Ambrose St, Monifieth, Angus.[3]

James died on 5 February 1877 in Thameshaven, Essex.[4] At the time of his death he was captain of the SS Queen. His death is recorded as an obituary in the Dundee Courier & Argus.[5]
