Pvt. Alexander Irwin lived in Lancaster, Wisconsin, he enlisted in the Union Army on 9 August 1862. Alexander was mustered into company C, 25th Wisconsin Infantry.[1]

On 14 April 1864 at Paducah, Kentucky he was captured by the Confederate Army. Pvt. Irwin died in the Andersonville Prison on 26 September 1864 of Scorbutus. He is buried in the Andersonville National Cemetery, #9808.[2]
