Biography

Lorraine Katherine Walters, age 74, of Brainerd, MN, passed away on Wednesday July 23, 2014 at Lakewood Care Center in Staples, MN. Lorraine was born on November 18, 1939 in Brainerd to Phillip and Anna (Johnson) Isle. Lorraine married Jim Walters on July 10, 1965 and together they raised five children. Lorraine worked for years at Hickerson Garment Factory; she also ran a daycare out of their home. Lorraine loved sewing and planting flowers. Lorraine & Jim cherished their wild animals. Together they spent many hours feeding and enjoying their little creatures, especially a little doe named Heidi. Lorraine had a soft spot for cats and dogs. Many a cat were nursed back to health by Lorraines gentle hands. Lorraine is survived by her husband, Jim Walters; children, Brenda Wilsusen (Linn), Merrifield; Dale Walters, Brainerd; Susan Smart, Brainerd; Mark Walters, Brainerd; siblings, Alice Swift, Montana; Mardella Swift, Brainerd; fourteen grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lorrie in 2005; brothers, Richard; Raymond; sister, Caroline. Services for Lorraine will be held on Monday July 28, 2014 at 11AM at Halvorson Johnson Funeral Home-BRAINERD CHAPEL. Visitation will be held on Sunday July 27, 2014 from 4-7PM at Halvorson Johnson and one hour prior to the service, Monday at the Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, near Brainerd. Arrangements made by Halvorson Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd.^[1]
