Alfred Lachlan Jack was born in 1881 at Christchurch, New Zealand. He was the son of Thomas Jack and Catherine McTaggart. [1]
In 1908 he married Ethel Annie Ellen Priest. [2]
After having two children in New Zealand, his wife passed away in 1910. Alfred moved to Australia with the children. He enlisted for the First World War at Melbourne, naming his young daughter as next of kin (address - 149 Flemington Rd, North Melbourne); and fought with the Australian Army. He was killed in action at Gallipoli, 28 August 1915. [3] He was buried at Hill 60 Cemetery, Gallipoli. [4]
