Biography

Leonard was born in 1864. He is the son of John Jacka and Mary Thomas.[1] [2]

Leonard was sponsored by his brother John to go to Australia. He left Plymouth on 10 June 1880 and arrived in Sydney on 26 August.[4] [5] [6]

Leonard married Annie L Evans in 1909 in Mossgiel, New South Wales.[7]

Leonard died in 1929 in Narrandera, New South Wales.[8]

Mr. Leonard Jacka, father of Mr. H. Jacka, of Jacka's Garage, Griffith, died at Narandera, on 30th November, following on operation performed three weeks previously (says the 'Argus.') The late Mr. Jacka had been a resident of the area for 14 years, and was employed by the W.C. and I.C., as saddler, up to the time of his death. The funeral took place at Griffith, on Sunday, the members of the Orange Lodge organisation, of which he was a member, carrying out the burial according to the lodge ceremony. He was a brother of Mr. John Jacka, one of the oldest residents of Hay, who was present at Narrandera, during Mr. Jacka's illness.[9][10]

Leonard was mentioned on a memorial in Griffith Cemetery, Griffith, Griffith City, New South Wales, Australia with a death date of 30 November 1929.[11] His headstone reads:

JACKA /in Loving Memory of / Anne Louise / died 17 May 1953 / aged 87 years / Leonard Millett / died 30th Nov. 1929 / aged 65 years
