George Jackson was born on 24 Oct 1725 the eldest surviving son of George Jackson of Richmond, Yorkshire, and Hannah, daughter of William Ward of Guisborough.[1][2]
George Jackson married firstly Mary Ward the daughter of William Ward of Guisborough.[1][2] They were married on 24 Sep 1791 at St. Bennets Paul's Wharf, London.[2] They had three daughters.[1]
His second wife was Grace (Duckett) Goldston[3][2], the widow of Robert Neal of Shaw House, Wiltshire.[2] They were married on 09 Sep 1775 at St. Margaret's, Westminster.[2]
George and Grace had a son George who was born on 17 Jul 1777 at Old Palace Yard, Westminster.[2]
George Jackson was created a Baronet on 21 Jun 1791.[1]
Port Jackson in New South Wales, Australia, and Point Jackson in New Zealand, were named after George by Capt. James Cook.[1]
In 1797, in accordance with the will dated 27 Feb 1764 of his second wife's uncle, Thomas Duckett of Hartham House, George assumed the surname Duckett.[1]
George died at the age of 98 on 15 Dec 1822, at his house in Upper Grosvenor Street, London and was buried at St Michael's Bishop's Stortford[1][2][4], a monument in the church recording his date of death.
