Richard Noble Jackson was born in 1816 in Coniston, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom. His father was George Jackson, yeoman, a farmer. Richard was baptized at St Andrew parish church in Coniston, Lancashire on October 1, 1816. Their family resided at High Yewdale.[1]
Richard married Sarah Brindley on June 26, 1848 at St Mary, St Denys' and St George Church in Manchester, Lancashire, England. Richard was 30 years old, employed as a joiner and living at Strangewayd. He indicated his father's name was George Noble Jackson, when Noble was the maiden name of his mother, not his father's name. This was a first marriage for both of them. Sarah was from Broughton and her father's name was Thomas Brindley, a butcher.[2] Together they had 3 children before her death at the end of 1851. [3]
In the 1851 England census Richard was 32 years old and living with his wife and two children in Manchester, Lancashire, England. He was employed as a publican and joiner. Also living with them were 3 joiners, a tailor and one child of the above.[4]
In 1852 Richard married Mary Hosfield on May 20, 1852 at St Mary the Virgin church in Eccles, Lancashire, England. Richard was a Publican living at 14 Baloon Street, Manchester. Mary was of full age (21 or older), a spinster, living at Green Bank, Pendleton. Her father was James Hossall, gardener. Witnesses to the marriage were Bigland Withers and Stephen Whittles. They were married by banns by W. Marsden. [5] Together they had 4 children.
In 1861 Richard was 44 years old and a victualler. He was living with his wife Mary (41), 4 children, a cook, chambermaid at their hotel "Comm Inn" (sp?) in Salford, Lancashire, England.[6]
In the 1871 census, Richard was again a widower. He was living with two of his adult children and a servant in Blawith, Lancashire, England. He was an innkeeper.[7]
Richard died on 9 September 1875 at his hotel "Lake Bank" in Blawith, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom. He was 59 years old. Richard was buried on 12 September 1875 in Lancashire, England.[8] His estate passed probate on 12 October 1875 in Lancashire, England.[9]
