William was born in 1645. He was the son of Joseph Jane. He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford in 1664[1][2]. He passed away on February 23, 1707, and was buried in Christ Church[3][4].

May 4 1698 - Matthew Wickham, maltster of Liskeard borough to Edward Kempe, maltster of Liskeard borough. Plot of land in Dean Street, Liskeard, formerly in the possession of Charles Symons, labourer. Bounded by the King's highway to Kit Hill on the south and west, the lands of Dr William Jane on the north and the demesne lands of the borough on the east[8].
William Jane "Dr of Divinity, Regius Professor of Divinity of the University of Oxon" I give unto my sister Mrs. Thomasin Baron the use of five hundred pounds, that is to say twenty five pounds of lawfull money yearly and every year on the nine and twentieth day of September and the five and twentieth day of March by equall portions during the terme of her naturall life, free from all taxes. I give and release unto my said sister Baron all and every such sume and sumes of money as she in any wayes owes unto me. My will is that my executor shall lay out the sume of five hundred pounds in the purchase of the perpetual Advowson of some rectory to which my will is that my executor shall have the first presentation and then the same advowson shall be conveyed to or in trust for the Deane and Chapter of Christ Church in Oxen and theire s______ forever upon confidence and to the intent that they from time to time doe present some student of Christ Church aforesaid whome they shall esteem most meritorious forever to such rectory. I doe give and devise unto my cousin Peter ffoulks of the University of Oxon and Master of Arts and student of Christ Church aforesaid to his heires forever all and every my messuages, lands, & tenements and hereditaments whatsoever situate or being in the Borough or parish of Liskeard and in the Borough or parish of Bodmyn and in either of them in the county of Cornwall and all other my messuages, lands, tenements, and hereditaments wehresoever and also all the rest and residue of my goods and chattells whatsoever I doe give and bequeath to the said Peter ffoulkes and I doe make him the said Peter ffoulkes sole executor of this my last will. Signed June 5, 1705.
