Biography

Carl was born in 1878 in Russia. He lived in Kansas, United States for eight years before moving to Saskatchewan with hopes of acquiring a homestead. They were all taken when he arrived so he found work on the railroad. Carl was a talented musician and bandmaster of his own brass band in Esk, Saskatchewan. He taught each member of the band how to play his instrument. He also wrote and composed music.

Carl married Edith Stermer in 1918. They had three children Minnie or Minna, John and Elsie and lived at Esk. Carl passed away in 1957 and was buried in Esk Lutheran Cemetery north of Esk.
