↑ PRE-WEDDING AFTERNOON.
In honour of Miss Madge Blackman,
whose marriage with Mr. Francis Jardine
will take place next Wednesday, Mrs.
A. H. Blackman and Mrs. John Jardine
entertained a number of guests at after-
noon tea in the Eastern lounge of Lennon's
Hotel yesterday. In the absence of Mrs.
Jardine, Mrs Eric Molle acted as a hostess.
Mrs. Blackman received ber guests in a
frock of black and white jersey silk, show-
ing a panel of white pleated georgette and
a collar of white. She also wore a small
black, cloche. Mrs Molle chose a sand
coloured georgette with which she wore
a small lime hat finished with pink roses.
The guest of honour was gowned in mus-
tard-coloured georgette adorned with
touches of black, and she also wore a black
hat, finished with ospreys. The reception
room had been artistically decorated with
red and white lilies, and the table decora-
tions were carried out with gerberas.

↑ Obituary.— The death is announced of
Mr Francis Alexander Lascelles Jardine, 57, a descendant of the well
known Jardine pioneering family.
He was an Agriculture Department officer in Stanthorpe.
He was a member of the 5th Light Horse Regiment in World War I.
He had intended to take, part in the Anzac commemoration, but died
early on the morning of Anzac Day.
He leaves his wife and one son — Mr Murray Jardine.
