The family was living in Edgefield County, South Carolina.

Mary (Polly) Jenkins married John Hall before 1820. The household of of John Hall was enumerated on the 1820 Census for Edgefield County, South Carolina with:

one male under age 10, one male age 18 to 26, one female age 16 to 26, and one female over age 45, and no slaves.[2]

Her mother was perhaps the female over age 45 in the household.

On the 18th day of December 1820, John Hall and Polly, his wife, of the District of Edgefield, South Carolina sold to John Jenkins, of Edgefield, all the plantation or tract of land containing 35 acres our one seventh it being our distributive share of the real estate of Samuel Jenkins Dec'd, also our distributive share of our brother's real Est James Jenkins Dec'd all of which will more fully and at large appear by a resurvey of said lands made by John Blocker, Esq.[3]

John passed away before 1830, and Mary married James H. Walker after his death. According to the court record, the land of John Hall's father, John Hall, was finally sold to James H. Walker, as the last and highest bidder, on the first Monday of January 1831 after James H. Walker and his wife, Mary, formerly Mary Hall, and the children of the said Mary by her first husband John Hall, made application for the sale of the land.[4] The actual deed recorded the land was sold to William G.
