Biography

William Sutherland Johnson was born at Ballarat 1876 to Mary SUTHERLAND father James Johnson.[1]

William Johnson is an Anzac who served in the Boer War.

William Johnson, Clerk at Royal Park, joined the 4th Victorian Imperial Bushmen/Australian Imperial Regiment (A.I.R.) (regimental number 195) and sailed from Port Melbourne on the "Victorian" on 1 May 1900 for South Africa.[2][3]

William Johnson is an Anzac who served in World War One.

In February 1915 William joined the AIF and was allocated to the 22nd Australian Infantry Battalion. He served at Gallipoli and France before he was killed in action near Ypres Belgium.[4][5]

William is memorialised at Menin Gate Memorial.[6]
