- Robert Hookes probably related to William Hookes of Chowan NC father of Thomas Hookes who is named in deed with Andrew Bass.
- Staples family was close with the Bass family from VA to NC. John Bass Sr.’s second wife was Mary Staples, possible relative of Richard Staples.
- Evan Griffith may be related to Owen Griffith
Richard Staples was a headright for Symon Simon in 1655.
Richard was alive in April 1670 when named as an abutter to land of Mr. Godfrey Hunt and probably the next year when some of his deeds were voided because they passed land formerly owned by an alien, (his father-in-law, Raichard Brasseur).
Godfrey Hunt was the father of Mary Hunt who married Owen Griffith, parents of Sarah Griffith who married William Johnson b. 1648 most likely in Isle of Wight Co., VA.
Because of this, I believe that Israel Johnson is likely the father of William Johnson.
