Gordon was born in 1893. He was the son of Robert Johnson and Nellie Lee.^[1][2]

He married Georgina Holt in 1920.^[3]

Gordon died in 1946 in Wilmington, California.^[4] He was buried at Burford Congregational Cemetery in Burford, Ontario.^[5]
