James Johnston was born in Ireland.

James was born about 1822. [1] He was the son of Robert Johnston, farmer, and lived at Knockadoo, Lissan, County Londonderry as of 1853.

On 27 Aug 1846 at Ahoghill Presbyterian, he married Hannah Agnew(19?) of Ballylummin, Ahoghill, Co. Antrim, daughter of John Agnew, farmer. Witnessed by John Agnew and Hugh A...? [2]

On 3 Mar 1853 at Tobermore Presbyterian, Kilcronaghan, he (widower, 30) married Esther Shiels(24) of Balnahone(sic), daughter of Robert Shiels, farmer. Witnessed by Joseph Johnston and John Winter. [3]

He passed away 6 Nov 1895 at Knockadoo, married, age 73 due to asthma and bronchitis. Attended by Esther Johnston, widow, Knockadoo. [4] [5]
