Biography

Augustus was born in 1819 to Daniel Johnston and Rachel Scott in Mansfield, Ohio.

In 1837, Augustus moved to Byron, Illinois, where he farmed.

In about 1849, Augustus married Lucilda Copeland in Byron. They had at least six children.

In 1871, Augustus passed away in Byron, Illinois.

Johnston, who was born in Richland Co., O., Nov. 19, 1819; he came to Byron, Ogle Co., in 1837, and settled on Sec. 23. being one of the earliest settlers of the Co.; married Nov. 10, 1850, Lucilda H. Copeland, who was born in Chester, Chester Co., Pa., Dec. 1, 1825; the father of Mrs. J. came to Ill., settling in Byron Tp., Sept. 24, 1871; she has two sons and four daughters; owns farm of 220 acres, valued at $11,000.
