Sergeant Eli Jolliff served in the United States Army in World War I Service started: 6 May 1917 Unit(s): 146th Infantry, Company C Service ended: 13 Apr 1919
Eli enlisted for World War I on May 6, 1917.[5] He finished his service on April 13, 1919 as a sergeant with Co. C, 146 Infantry.[6]
Eli married Georgia May Rottman on April 9, 1921 in Wayne County, Ohio.[7] They had one son, William Albert Joliff.[8]
Eli died on September 23, 1922.[6]. His death place (no image) is listed as Hamtramck, Wayne County, Michigan.[2]See research notes.
Research Notes
Eli's birth is recorded as December 10, 1896 in Plain Township, Wayne County, Ohio. His name is spelled as Elza. [1] All military records give his birth date as December 16, 1896. The birth record book is all in the same hand and appears to be transcribed from other records.
Although both Eli and his mother have death certificates listed in the Michigan Death Certificates collection at FamilySearch, there are no images. Both Eli and his mother died, according to the death records available in Hamtramck Township, Wayne County, Michigan. Eli's son was born in Wayne County, Ohio in December 1921. [8] The death location only seems reasonable because Eli's sister, Elsie Joliff, then Brenner, was in Hamtramck in 1917 where her husband at the time, Roy Brenner, registered for the draft.[9]See research notes on Daisy Joliff.
