William Gerard Sansome Jones was born on May 19, 1880 in Walcha, Colony of New South Wales, son of William Jones (1852–<1901) and Henrietta Idalia Wilson (1858–1938).^{[1] [2]}

William (30) married Elsie May Cahill (17) (born on July 7, 1893 in Murwillumbah, Colony of New South Wales; daughter of John Cahill and Bridget Moran) on August 6, 1910 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.^[3] Their children were:

• Pearl Isabell Elsie Cooper (1911–1911)

• Hazel Henrietta Cooper (1914–1994)
