Henry Jones, youngest child of Peter Jones, wire worker, & Ellen Jackson, was baptised on 16 June 1853 in St John, Chester, Cheshire, England.^{[1] [2]}

In the 1861 census Henry (age 8) was the son of Peter Jones in Chester St John the Baptist, Cheshire, England.^[3]

In the 1871 census Henry (age 19), Bootbinder, was the son of Ellen Jones, widow, in Cheshire, England.^[4]

In the 1881 census Henry (age 27), Laborer To The Boat Building, was the unmarried son of Ellen Jones on Royal Oak Entry Off Foregate St, Chester St John The Baptist, Cheshire, England.^[5]
