Biography

Jeanette Jones was born on November 1, 1901, in Greene, Alabama, her father, Tussie Jones, was 40, and her mother, Ella Colvin, was 29. She married Elliot P Gray on January 2, 1923, in her hometown. They had three children during their marriage; Evalane (Gray) Wood, Rev. Elliot Gray Jr. and Roy Watson Gray. Jeanette was a member of Holman Free will Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She was a retired school teacher, having taught in Pickens and Tuscaloosa schools. She died on April 28, 1992, in Pickens County, Alabama, at the age of 89, and was interred at Flatwoods Baptist Church Cemetery, Gordo, Pickens County, Alabama
