Helge was born about 1770.[1] He was the son of Jon Tovsen Gisholt and Gro Jonsdatter.[2]

He was confirmed on 1 October 1786 in Solum.[1]

He married Gunhild Pedersdatter (daughter of Peder Nielsen Gisholt and Margit Kittilsdatter) on 27 September 1793 in Solum.[3]

In the 1801 census at Gisholt østre, Melum, the 40 years old Helge Jonsen is listed as "Bonde og Gaardbeboer" (resident farmer) in his first marriage to Gunild Pedersdatter.[4]

He died in December 1801 at Gisholt østre, Melum.[5]

A probate was held on 19 January 1802 at Gisholt østre, Melum after the deceased Helge Jonsen who died on 15 December. He left the widow Gunnild Pedersdatter and their children:

Guardian for Jon: mother's brother Hans Pedersen Gisholt, for Asloug and Mari: mother's brother Nils Pedersen Gisholt. Guardian for the widow: Rolloug Halvorsen Omdal.[6]
