A sad fatality occurred at North Creswick on Sunday morning, when Mr Simon Jory, the well-known monumental mason and builder and contractor, passed away suddenly when in the act of digging. The deceased, who was the eldest son of the late Mr Simon Jory, of Jory street, North Creswick, had been in his usual state of health, and there had not been anything to indicate that his condition was in any way critical. He was a well-known and respected business man and was secretary of both the Loyal Prince of Wales Lodge, M.U.I.0.0.F., and the Creswick Cemetery Trust. Widespread sympathy is expressed for the widow and family in their sudden bereavement.
