Jan Joustra was born on October 27, 1843, in Blokzijl, Overijssel, Netherlands, the son of Gerrit Joustra and Catrina Veen.[1]
He married Lolkje Reinsma, the daughter of Rients Piers Reinsma and Haebeltje Dooyes Bakker, on May 8, 1869, in Wonseradeel, Friesland, Netherlands.[2]
